The app has no account, no analytics and no tracking — the only time it contacts a server is to check your license, and your desktop names never leave your Mac. This website uses Google Analytics; that is covered below.

SpaceNamer is a menu bar app that names your Mac’s desktops. The app has no account system, collects no analytics and contains no tracking of any kind. The names and emoji you choose are stored on your own Mac and are never transmitted anywhere. The single exception is license activation, described below.
This website is a separate matter: it uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies and reports your visit to Google. Details are in “This website” below. Nothing the website measures has any connection to what you do inside the app.
All of the following is stored locally in SpaceNamer’s preferences and never sent anywhere:
Deleting the app and its preferences removes all of it. Nothing is synced between your Macs, which is why a second Mac starts with default names.
SpaceNamer makes network requests for exactly one purpose: checking that your license is valid. This happens when you activate a key, when you remove it, and during a quiet revalidation roughly every two weeks. Those requests go to our licensing provider, and contain:
Your desktop names, your emoji, the apps you run and anything on your screen are not part of these requests. If the network is unavailable the app keeps working offline.
Purchases are handled by our payment provider, who is the merchant of record for every sale — they take the payment, handle tax, and manage refunds and order enquiries. We never see or store your card details. We do receive the email address you buy with, so we can send your license key and reply to support.
This site is a set of static pages hosted by GitHub Pages, who as our host receive the usual web-server request data, including your IP address.
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which pages people read and where
visitors come from. It sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and similar) and sends
Google information about your visit — pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP
address, device and browser type, and how you arrived. We use it only in aggregate; we do not use it
to identify you, and we do not run advertising or remarketing on this site.
You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on, by blocking cookies for this site, or with any content blocker. Nothing on this site stops working if you do. Google’s own handling of this data is covered by their privacy policy.
Separately from analytics, the site stores your choice of light or dark theme in
localStorage on your own device. That never leaves your browser.
Note: this is the website only. The SpaceNamer app contains no analytics and no tracking of any kind — see the sections above.
Local data stays on your Mac until you delete it. License and purchase records are kept by our providers for as long as they are needed to support your license and to meet tax and accounting obligations, after which they are deleted. If you want yours removed sooner, ask and we will action what the law allows.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold — in practice your email address and license record. Write to the address below and we will action it. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
The data controller is Barsan T, trading as SpaceNamer. The quickest way to reach us about any of this is the email address below; if you need a postal address for a formal request, ask and we will provide it.
SpaceNamer is a productivity tool for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the changelog.
